IIT Delhi and University of Queensland PhD Program 2020

Hello,

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia have invited expression of interest (EOI) from meritorious students for IIT PhD Admission 2020. The PhD program that is being offered was introduced last year and selected students will get to study in both IIT Delhi and the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.


The UQ – IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR) is a transnational collaborative joint-PhD program that supports research in multi-disciplinary areas.

Students can also apply for a scholarship wherein eligible candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 41,000 in the first year and Rs 45,000 in years 3 and 4. Both Indian students and international students can apply for the IIT PhD admission 2020 under the i-students category. Selected students will spend their first year of study at IIT Delhi before completing one year (or more) at the University of Queensland, Australia. They would then complete the remainder of their studies at IIT Delhi.

Who is Eligible?

 

Candidates with an exceptional record from the streams of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, humanities and social science can apply for the joint PhD program. Candidates need to have a master’s degree with CGPA of 6.50 on a 10.00 point scale, or an aggregate percentage of 65%. High score in competitive exams such as GATE, UGC-NET, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, DST-INSPIRE will be an added advantage. However, it is not a requirement to take these exams. Candidates with an 8 semester bachelor’s degree can also apply provided they have a CGPA of 8.00 on a 10.00 point scale, or an aggregate percentage of 80%.

How to Apply?

 

Interested and eligible candidates would be required to submit an expression of interest (EOI) following which deserving candidates will be invited to apply on the online applications portal between 24 February to 22 March 2020. Students can then select their project of interest and then provide supporting documentation.

The course will begin in July 2020, and upon successful completion of the program candidates would be offered a joint Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from IIT Delhi and University of Queensland.
